Dear Student,
Did your textbook come with a Personal Response System (PRS) transmitter? If so, please take a few moments to register it.
PRS registration is easy and free.
What is your PRS transmitter?
It’s a small infrared remote control – the same technology that’s used in television and stereo remote controls. Your classroom will be set up with receivers connected to software installed on your instructor’s computer. Your instructor may use these devices for roll-taking and/or testing your knowledge of topics (s)he is covering in class.
Typically your instructor will project a multiple-choice question along with possible answers. You point your device toward a receiver in the room and press the keypad on your device that corresponds with what you believe is the correct answer. Your answer is then registered with the software on your instructor’s computer.
Why register your PRS transmitter?
Registration links your device with you. If you don’t register, your answers will appear with your device serial number only. If you do register, they will appear with your name. Your instructor may also manually register your device with the software, but registering here makes it easier for him/her.
How does it work?
It’s simple. The device comes packaged with batteries. Simply put these in, turn your PRS device on (the black and red button just above the PRS logo), and you’re ready to go.
When the device is on, a green light will be illuminated.
What’s involved in registering?
For your convenience we have created a single registration mechanism for the Genetics, Second Edition Book Companion Site, iSolve, and/or your PRS transmitter.
If you have already registered with the Genetics, Second Edition site and/or iSolve, your PRS transmitter registration is almost complete. To complete your PRS registration, log on to the Genetics, Second Edition Book Companion site below.
